Funded PhD Studentship Opportunity with the Low Carbon Research Institute, Cardiff University

The Low Carbon Research Institute (LCRI) at the Welsh School of Architecture (WSA) invites applications for a fully funded 3-year PhD studentship in the area of Urban Retrofit and Low Carbon Innovation. We are particularly interested in proposals exploring the economics and financing of large scale retrofit activities in a UK context, or assessing the supply chain and local employment opportunities created through innovation and investment in the low carbon built environment.

The successful candidate will join the Retrofit 2050 project, an interdisciplinary team investigating prospective pathways to retrofitting UK city-regions by 2050. Through case studies, modelling and international comparison, the project aims to advance and explore both theoretical and practical understandings of the systems innovation and transition that will underpin a shift towards sustainability in the build environment between 2020 and 2050. More information on the Retrofit 2050 project can be found at http://www.retrofit2050.org.uk/.
